Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday 9th February is a curriculum day and no students should come to school. The staff are engaging in professional development regarding a new spelling program we will be implementing.
All homework Health, Sleep and Exercise diaries are due on Monday, along with your Home Reading log. We will be using this information in class, so it is imperative that it is brought to school on MONDAY. Please ensure your Homework book is signed by a parent or guardian. A new homework task will be given to the students on Monday at school. This will be a small game to play at home with relation to our Maths, along with your regular 120 mins of Home Reading for the week.

We have had an enthusiastic and positive group of students return to school for their Grade 5 year. It has been terrific to hear of their holiday adventures and their eagerness to be involved in many of the exciting things we have planned for our year together.
Family Photo As per the Compass note, we have asked all students to bring along a photo of their family to be displayed in the room for us to get to know them more. This is part of creating a positive classroom with a reminder to them of some of the most important people in their lives. The photos will be displayed and then returned to you at a later date. If you prefer us to take a photocopy, that is fine too. Acceptable Use Agreement for iPads Each year before we allow students to bring their iPads to school, each grade works through the Acceptable Use Agreement in class. This is to ensure all kids are on the same page about what the rules mean, why we have them and the importance of conforming to them. Both the students and the teachers will be signing the forms at school, following our discussions and then they will bring the forms home to talk about with mum and dad as another way of reiterating the importance of safe and acceptable use. Your child will bring 2 sheets of paper home for signing after your discussion. iPads can come to school when the signed forms are returned to school. Interschool Sport Now that the students are in Grade 5, they will be participating in a weekly inter-school sport competition with local schools. Students have been allocated to either cricket, bat tennis, rounders or softball, based on preferences. This week we have had our first training session. Inter-school sport will be in the first two sessions each THURSDAY for Term 1. Please keep your eye on Compass for Jared Kitney's permission notices and information. Once we have the fixture, we will post it on this site so you may check teams and venues each week. Homework Please visit the 'Homework' tab to see the homework guidelines and tasks each week. We encourage each student to take responsibility for this to help them to become good self-managers. |
